Skinny jeans may lead to ‘twisted testicles’ and other painful health problems for style-conscious men
For men, the skinny jean fashion trend may have an unexpected side effect: experts are warning that the surge of tight-jean popularity among men is sparking a rise in painful testicular problems.
Medical experts, including UK television personality Dr. Hilary Jones, have reported an increase in injuries being caused by tight jeans, cites The Telegraph on Wednesday. “The trendy denims are causing twisted testicles, bladder weakness, and even urinary tract infections.”
Twisted testicles is a serious condition that occurs “when tight trousers prevent the spermatic cord from moving freely, meaning it twists and leads to testicular torsion which cuts off the blood supply requiring immediate surgery to prevent a gangrenous testicle,” noted the report.
Other dreaded side effects from overly tight jeans: low sperm count and fungal infections.
According to the UK press, Jones is working with TENA, a maker of hygienic products for people with incontinence, on a project to highlight the dangers.
”I have seen several cases of men who have twisted their testicles due to wearing jeans that are far too tight,” she reportedly said. ”My advice would be to make sure you leave plenty of room around the groin area and that your [UNDER]pants and trousers feel comfortable so you’re not being restricted in any way.”
”Please don’t put style before health,” Jones added.
For women, wearing skinny jeans can increase one’s chances of developing a vaginal yeast infection. Plus for both sexes, tight jeans have found to raise the risk of nerve compression, which can lead to tingling or numb thighs, according to health and fitness website RealBuzz.

Men are secret clothing hoarders
Men are hiding clothes their partner to not give away how much they are actually spending on clothes, according to a new survey.
The study also found that more than a fifth of men ‘never’ clean out their wardrobe.
As part of ongoing research into the shopping habits of young men across Britain, MyVoucherCodes.co.uk has conducted a study of 1,071 men aged 18-35 in order to discover more about their clothes buying habits.
The study initially asked the respondents to the study how often, on average, they went clothes shopping in a year. They found that male respondents went clothes shopping an average of 15.3 times a year. Furthermore, when asked to estimate how much they spent a year on clothes shopping, the average worked out as £658.37.
According to the research, more than half of the respondents said that they had ‘hidden’ newly bought clothes from their partner on occasion. When these respondents were asked why they had hidden clothes, the majority said it was because their partner would be ‘angry’ at the money they had spent.
Mark Pearson, chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, said the following:
“We are always interested in finding out more about the buying habits of people across the UK, and this research was certainly insightful. Typically, stereotypes point towards women as being more likely to hide clothes, so it is interesting to see that a large percentage of men also keep their new purchases under wraps.”
Furthermore, 29 per cent of the respondents who said that they had hidden newly bought clothes from their partner said that they did so simply because their partner ‘had hidden clothes from them’ in the past; whilst 17% said it was because they knew their partner ‘wouldn’t like’ the clothes they had bought.
As well discovering how often men went shopping, the study also investigated how often men in the UK ‘discard’ old clothing. According to the results, more than a fifth of the men asked have ‘never’ discarded their old clothing; whilst a quarter said that they cleaned out their wardrobe ‘annually’.
Mark continued:
“It is slightly worrying that some men never clean out their wardrobes, after all, where do they store all of their new clothes? There are plenty of places where you can donate, or even sell, your unwanted clothes and make yourself a bit of cash; so it’s always worth bearing that in mind, as it can raise some pennies before you next hit the shops.”
